updatedb is hung. Several processes running. "ls -l /proc/25498/fd" on one of the processes shows it is accessing /usr/lib/xemacs/xemacs-packages/lisp/cc-mode. I tried "ls -l" of that file and ls hung too. So I looked at another updatedb process (running since last month) and it also connected to same xemacs file. Then I did tab-completion (in bash) into that directory and bash hung (state D) at that directory. I also tried to delete directory and rm hung too.

Probably some filesystem problem. Rebooted and all was well. I was told that fsck had one problem. Logs showed:

I removed emacs files and packages, before I saw that. I didn't look for that coresponding file (for that inode).

I see that galeon and X are taking up a lot of memory (real and swap).
