The contrast adjustment is on the right side of the display at
the bottom (and looks like a volume control on a radio).
The knob is on the outer right side of the display housing and is
slightly recessed and looks like the volume knob.

CMOS: On boot-up, press "Esc" key until a message to                            
click F1 key (or whatever your screen states).

a tiny hole on the left side of
the laptop where you stick a pin or something to reset the system.  Toshiba's
have a default setup so that if the machine hangs and you turn off the power,
it DOESN'T turn off the power.  Instead it goes into Suspend Mode.
