I have had many bad experiences with GTE (now known as Verizon) over the past few years. This page contains these problems. (I still have to jog my memory so I can remember the past details.) This page will updated I am sure, since I continue to be a Verizon customer and I know that my problems will continue.

Put on hold for over four hours. In the space of a few days, I was on hold for over eight hours.

December 2000

My current ISP went out of business, so I found a new ISP who gave me a DLCI number. So on Friday I called GTE and they said it would take a few days to set up, plus they would charge me $30. She told me to call back on Saturday to get my scheduled appointment.

So I called back on Saturday and they never new anything about my requested change. So she entered it in their computer and told me to not call back until Thursday to find out what my scheduled appointment was.

My brother also was changing ISPs -- and his change only took a few minutes. I called GTE to ask about my ISP change -- and this person said that there was no request to make an ISP change for me. So my brother contacted the person who did it for him; she was leaving but she said she would set me up when she go in at 4:30 the next morning. When I got up my DSL was connected.

DSL down at 11:49 p.m. Called Verizon from 12:10 to 12:25. They made my modem lights turn on and off around 12:15. They said problem appears to be on their side. Said they were calling me back -- so I assumed it was down. Next morning I realized that it worked -- apparently was fixed at 12:15. Later that afternoon they called -- they still didn't know what was going on.
