Some laptops have function key for switching between LCD, external or both.
Like Fn-F5 or Fn-F9.

Under Device section: (these are for "neo")

Option  "extern_disp"

Option  "intern_disp"

Set both at same time if screen and projector can use same settings.

Or have two different XF86Config files

Try using VESA DDC(??) specs.
